NITLE is seeking a participating campus to host 8 - 9 days of contiguous programming in June 2009. See the full RFP for hosts (.pdf, 30.98 KB), which lists specific criteria for hosting. The following programs are being considered for inclusion in this week of offerings:
- Summer Seminars. Three to five faculty seminars, each for 15 to 20 participants.These seminars will result in ongoing collaborations for participants as they teach inter-campus courses or course components and/or incorporate what they have developed into campus curricula. Topics may include
- the development of first year seminars;
- Middle Eastern/Islamic or other area studies;
- the role of technology in the teaching of classical and/or modern languages.
- A two-day conference for 40 to 60 instructional technologists.
- User community meetings for a total of 75 to 150 participants over 3 - 4 days. Meetings will focus on DSpace, Sakai, Moodle, and up to three other technology services or areas, potentially including a user community meeting for GIS and related technologies.
Benefits for the host campus include the following:
- Complimentary participation in hosted events for faculty and staff members from the host campus, with 6.25% of “first-come, first-served” seats reserved for the host’s use free-of-charge
- The opportunity to gain recognition as an institution hosting multiple national programs on the ways that digital technologies can advance liberal learning and support campus goals
- The revenue for dining services and other campus administrative units that would accrue to the host of such a program of events
What we are seeking:
- A campus in reasonable proximity to a major airport
- A campus that offers summer dining or catering services
- A campus open to engaging its faculty and staff members in a range of different NITLE programs and services
- A campus which can assist NITLE staff in identifying convenient and reasonably priced accommodation for participants
- A campus that can identify a conference office or an individual who can work with NITLE staff on logistics
Interested campuses are invited to complete an application to be considered as a host site. Applications to host may be submitted online and are due by July 31, 2008.
